Victim assaulted in Boonville domestic dispute hospitalized with "serious" injuries, while a suspect is charged with felony assault and criminally possessing a weapon

BOONVILLE- Authorities say a victim, who was assaulted during a late Wednesday domestic dispute in Northern Oneida County, has suffered “serious” injuries and meanwhile a suspect is faced with a pair of felonies.

The incident happened shortly after 10:00 p.m. in the village of Boonville, NY, according to the Sheriff’s Office. An exact address was not provided.

As of this report, responding deputies discovered a 51-year-old male victim lying on the floor. It appeared the man had received serious injuries to his face and head.

Police began administering first aid and due to the seriousness of the situation, officers detained a second male subject, who was located within the residence.

Members of the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit and Forensic Identification Unit responded to assist in the case.

The male victim, who authorities say will not be identified due to the nature of the incident, was taken to Wynn Hospital, where he remains with serious injuries.

Meanwhile, the male subject who was detained, has been identified by police as Justin Moran, 28. He is officially charged with felony counts of assault in the first-degree and criminally possessing a weapon in the third-degree.

After processing, Moran was taken to the Oneida County Jail, where he was held as of this report, pending an arraignment in CAP Court.

Members of the New York State Police, Boonville Fire Department and Boonville Ambulance all assisted.
