ONONDAGA COUNTY- Two law enforcement officers were shot and killed in the duty Sunday night near Syracuse, NY.

Details are still developing, but the latest reports from WSYR suggest that one was an officer for the City of Syracuse Police, while the other was a Sheriff’s Deputy for Onondaga County.

Authorities confirmed the deaths during a briefing outside of SUNY Upstate Medical Center.

The incident occurred in the town of Salina.

Syracuse Police originally attempted to pull over a suspicious vehicle, but the driver sped off without ever stopping.

After gaining intelligence that the driver may be armed, Syracuse Police requested assistance from the Sheriff’s Office and responded to an address on Darien Drive.

While investigating the vehicle, which appeared to have guns inside, there was an eruption of gunfire between at-least one suspect inside the home and responding police.

Both law enforcement officers were pronounced deceased at SUNY Upstate. No names are available as of this publication.

With that said, reports suggest the suspected shooter is dead and police are working to determine if there was anyone else involved.
