Report: Steady gas prices to end out 2019

More than 100 million Americans are predicted to have driven to their holiday destinations by the new year, the most on record for a year-end holiday, according to the latest updates from the AAA.

With the new year just around the corner, gas prices here locally and statewide are very similar to what they were ending out last year. AAA officials say the current state average price of gas (as of December 30) is $2.69, up slightly from $2.62 last year.

For the North Country, gas prices in Lewis County average at just under $2.70, while prices are slightly lower in Jefferson County, $2.67. Listeners in Oneida County and the Mohawk Valley are wrapping up 2019 with gas prices hovering around $2.65. For residents in the southern Adirondacks, gas prices are similar for Herkimer County at $2.66. Meanwhile, nearby Hamilton County has a significantly higher average at just under $2.88.

Hawaii has the most expensive average gas price at $3.65, while Missouri reports a nation low price of $2.21.
