Lewis County woman allegedly impersonates as a sheriff's deputy while texting female party

WEST TURIN- A woman from southern Lewis County is charged with criminal impersonation after allegedly pretending to be a sheriff’s deputy while texting another person.

The incident occurred last Wednesday in the town of West Turin, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

It was just before 6:00 p.m. that evening when deputies responded to a phone harassment complaint, where the victim claimed she was being pestered via text messages.

Investigation led to the arrest of Stacey R. Dixon, 34, of Port Leyden, NY. She was charged with a felony count of criminal impersonation in the first-degree after allegedly advising the female party she was texting that she was a sheriff’s deputy and that she needed to stop texting her, police reported.

Dixon was taken to the Public Safety Building in Lowville, where she was processed and then arraigned via Lewis County Court.

She was released on her own recognizance.

There were no further details provided from the sheriff’s office.
