BOONVILLE- Nearly a week since a portion of Main Street was burned down in a raging fire, wiping out five buildings and displacing 15 from their apartments, the community is still rallying for hope and recovery.

After opening the elementary cafeteria as a temporary shelter and food place the morning after the blaze, Adirondack Central School will continue doing their part Tuesday evening, as the JV and Varsity Volleyball programs will be sponsoring a non-perishable food drive during their home games against Clinton, all to benefit the victims of the fire.

“We’ll have boxes set up near the gym entrances,” Varsity Head Coach Blanche Coscomb said. “Whoever comes to our matches is encouraged to bring canned or non-perishable food items.”

Coscomb says the JV team will play at 5:30 p.m., with varsity soon following.
