September 9, 1956 to August 20, 2013
Barry L. Hutchins, affectionately known as Bump, of Boonville, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 20, 2013.
He was born on September 9, 1956 in Lowville, to Stanley and Shirley Hutchins the third of twelve children. He grew up in various parts of Lewis and Oneida Counties receiving his education with South Lewis School District. After completing school, he began work for area dairy farmers including Harold Glouse, Sr., Harold Glouse, Jr. and Herb Marks. Bump had also been employed by N.M. Sargent’s Chair Factory in Boonville. He enjoyed gardening, working in agriculture and was an avid bicycle rider. Although he did not have children of his own, he loved children and played an important role in the upbringing of his younger siblings, as well as his nephews and nieces, and will be affectionately remembered by each of them.
Surviving besides his parents, is his long time companion, Diane Kilbourne of Boonville; ten siblings, Stanley Jr. and Julie of Constableville, Ann and Harold Glouse, Jr. of Boonville, Donald “Tim” of Oriskany, Sandra and Alfred Bender of Watson, Steve of Boonville, Douglas and Lorrie of Contableville, Karen Coe of Boonville, Laura McCaw of Mohawk, Amy and Rick DeVaul of New Port Richey, FL and David and Mary of Lowville; 24 nephews and nieces; 31 great nephews and nices; and a special cousin and caregiver during his illness, Rose Gydesen. He was predeceased by an infant sister, Brenda in 1963.
A private memorial service will be held at the Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post St., Boonville. There will be no calling hours.
