LOWVILLE-Stanley Karl McDonald, 55, of Summit Avenue, Lowville, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday March 14, under the loving care of his family and Lewis County Hospice. Born July 1, 1957, in Watertown, New York, he was the son of Kenneth George and Helen Bunce McDonald. He graduated from Alexandria Central School in 1975, earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1978 and a Master of Science in Education in 1985 (both from SUNY Oswego). In 1978 he began his career teaching Industrial Arts at Spaulding High School in Barre, Vermont. He moved to Lewis County in 1985, where he taught High School and Middle School Technology at South Lewis Central School until his death. He was united in marriage with the former Cynthia Fleming on August 13, 1977, at the First Baptist Church of the 1000 Islands in Clayton, New York, with the Rev. Dr. Robert R.H. Mowatt officiating. Stan was a friend to all he met, a mentor to hundreds of high school students. He was a member of the 3G Volunteer Fire Company in Glenfield, Lewis County Cause and Origin Team, and Lowville Elks Lodge #1605. He was proud to have donated over 4 gallons of blood at American Red Cross blood drives throughout his adult life; and he was an American Red Cross Shelter Volunteer. In recent years, Stan was a member of the Snow Ridge Ski Patrol, and Junior Varsity Baseball coach at South Lewis Central School. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, and spending time at his summer cottage in Alexandria Bay where he was always thrilled to take friends and family for a boat ride (affectionately called Uncle Stan's Boat Tours). He is survived by his wife of 35 years and two sons, Benjamin (Meriah Williams) of Turin, and Gregory (Brianne Klossner) of Rush; granddaughters Brytanie Williams and Makhenzie McDonald; and grandson DeSaun Williams. He is also survived by his parents of Alexandria Bay, sister Elizabeth McDonald of North Syracuse, brothers Steven (Nancy) of Valrico, Florida; Michael (Leslie) of Baldwinsville; nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his sister, Amy. Stan's life will be celebrated at the fundraiser for his scholarship fund to be held at the 3G Firehall in Glenfield on Saturday, March 16, at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Stan McDonald Scholarship Fund c/o Community Bank, Lowville, NY 13367, or to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O.
