West Leyden- Michael J. Tanner, 48, died at his home on the Osceola Road March 12, 2013 surrounded by his family.

Michael was born in Rome on July 28, 1964, the son of Malcolm Jr. and Marlene Joanis Tanner. He attended Adirondack Central School and joined the family business as a mason. He started out working with his Dad learning the trade and more recently working with his brother, Brian. He enjoyed working, hunting, family camping trips at Stillwater, gardening, feeding his birds, bluegrass music and a couple of beers.

Michael is survived by his wife of 31 years, Deborah Stacy Tanner; his parents, Malcolm and Marlene of West Leyden; one son, Franklyn K. Tanner, West Leyden; one daughter, Bonnie L. Tanner, West Leyden; three grandchildren, Axle and Wyatt Ingersoll and Kaelynn Tanner; five brothers, Danny of Ava, Charles and Brian of West Leyden, Scott of Blossvale and Jason of Floyd; four sisters, Debbie Rocker of Texas, Laurie Secor of Osceola, Sharon Cullings of West Leyden and Tracy Tanner of Rome. He was predeceased by a brother, Stephen.

Graveside services will be held in the spring at a date and time to be announced at St. Peter’s & Paul’s Cemetery, Fish Creek. Calling hours will be at the Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post St., Boonville, on Saturday, March 16, 2013, 2-5 p.m.
