The following are excerpts from some of the calls that George received during his radio show on WBRV-WLLG The Moose, as well as observations he made on the air during the week of June 11th, 2007:

  • MONDAY, JUNE 11: Happy 86th birthday wishes to Marion Shaw of Indian River, from her family. Happy 30th anniversary wishes to Merwin and Carol Hoage of Boonville, from Carolyn and Ken. In 1979, John Wayne died of cancer. He was born in Winterset, Iowa, and appeared in more than 250 films in his four-decade acting career. His last film was the “Shootist” in 1976. One-time NBC newsman, David Brinkley, died tonight in 2003 from complications of a fall at his home in Houston, Texas. He had also hosted “This Week With David Brinkley” on ABC. Former auto-racer Jackie Stewart was born in Scotland, 68 years ago. Football Hall of Famer Joe Montana was born in Monongahela, PA, 51 years ago.
     
  • TUESDAY, JUNE 12: Louise Zeigler of Boonville celebrates her 80th birthday, with best wishes from her family. In 1939, the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown was dedicated. Former President George H.W. Bush was born in Milton, MA, 83 years ago. Actor-singer Jim Nabors, a native of Sylacauga, Alabama, is 77 today. The classic movie, “Cleopatra,” starring Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, and Rex Harrison had its first showing in New York in 1963.
     
  • WEDNESDAY, JUNE 13: They’ve grown up! Mary-Kate Olsen and twin Ashley Olsen are 21 today. They were born in Sherman Oaks, California, in 1986. Their first TV series was “Full House” in 1987, and they have appeared in several movies and have a clothing line. Richard Thomas, best remembered as John-Boy on “The Waltons” TV series, was born in New York, NY, in 1951.
     
  • THURSDAY, JUNE 14: Congratulations to John and Becky Cavanaugh of Constableville on the birth of a son, John Peter Cavanaugh Jr., with best wishes from all the family. Yesterday, Ronnie and Shirley Pate of Copenhagen celebrated their 48th anniversary, with best wishes from Squeaky. Happy birthday wishes to Ed Ingersoll of Martinsburg on his 89th birthday today. His friends in the Singing Waters Senior Citizens Club report he’s the oldest living Marine in Lewis County. The world’s first commercial computer, Univac I, was introduced and demonstrated in Philadelphia, PA, in 1951, and was built for the U.S. Bureau of Census.
     
  • FRIDAY, JUNE 15: Basil and Marie Burnham of Glenfield celebrate their 61st anniversary today, with best wishes from their children and grandchildren. Happy 39th anniversary to Tom and Pat Flansburg of Constableville from their family and friends. Florence Farr of Port Leyden counts up 81 birthday candles today, with best wishes from her family. CBS offered a new country variety show, “Hee Haw,” on tonight’s date in 1969 starring Roy Clark and Buck Owens.
