his radio show on WBRV-WLLG The Moose, as well as observations he made on
the air during the week of March 13th, 2006:
- Monday, March 13: Here at the
Radio Station the fields are 90 percent bare because of the 50-degree
temperatures the past several days. The biggest snowstorm of the year
started today in 1993 and by tomorrow morning, 21.7 inches of snow was
measured. It was tonight's date at 11 p.m. in 1994 when the roof

considerable damages were sustained to the building. Former Country
singer Jan Howard was born in West Plains, Missouri 76 years ago.
Singer-song writer Neil Sedaka was born in Brooklyn, NY, 67 years ago.
The writer of over a 1000 songs still tours. I saw him two years ago at
Turning Stone and he could still hit those high notes as he sang
Calendar Girl and Happy Birthday Sweet 16. The whole U.S. adopted
standard time officially in 1884.
- Tuesday, March 14:
Congratulations to Larry and Charity Hoffert on the birth last evening
of a baby boy named Ashtin Frederick, who joins a brother Trenton at
home. Best wishes from Aunt Cathy and Uncle Randy. Frank Stysh of
Boonville celebrates his 91st birthday from his pitch-playing buddies at
Whelleys. Twins Julie Kloster and Jen Pate of Croghan celebrate their
40th today from Dick and Evelyn. The famous train engineer Casey Jones
was born in Cayce, Kentucky in 1864 and was killed in a train wreck
April 30, 1900. A song was written in his memory. It was today in 1978
when Boonville lost a large part of the downtown area during the Hess
Pharmacy Block fire, which destroyed 5 businesses. The fire started at
7:15 p.m. above Dellerba’s Shoe Store.
- Wednesday March 15: Happy 54
Anniversary wishes to Izzy and Lil Paluck of Constableville from Joe,
Allison and family. Nasty weather conditions prevail this morning south
of Boonville with heavy snow and limited visibility. Winds were measured
up to 29 mph at 11:15 a.m. at the radio station, but light snow here.
Today is traditionally the day when the Buzzards come back to Hinckley,
Ohio after wintering in the Smoky Mountains. In car history, Ford
introduced the first Explorer Sport Utility vehicle today in 1990.
Country singer Carl Smith was born in Maynardville, TN, 79 years ago.
Singer Mike Love of the pop group, "The Beach Boys" is 65 today, born in
Los Angeles, Calif. New Orleans native Fats Domino recorded, "Ain't That
a Shame" in 1955, which stayed on the music charts for 3 months. During
Hurricane Katrina, Fats had to be rescued by boat from his flooded home.
Maine became our 23rd state in 1820.
- Thursday, March 16: Happy 55th
wedding anniversary wishes to Bob and Cheri Failing of Boonville from
lifelong friends Jack and Jane Swancott. In weather extremes it was 72
degrees today in 1990, and -2 degree in 1992. There was 62 inches on the
ground on Jackson Hill in 1972. Comedian Jerry Lewis was born in Newark,
N.J., 80 years ago. Both Ford and G.M. have bragging rights today. In
1958, a Ford Thunderbird on the assembly line was Fords 50 millionth
vehicle and G.M. produced an Oldsmobile Tornado, their 100 millionth car
in 1966. The Boonville Elks Lodge will initiate 16 new members this
Saturday night during their St. Patrick’s dinner and party. There are 12
more people that will be eligible for the next initiation next month.
Congratulations.
- Friday, March 17: Congratulations
are sent 5,000 miles away to Ryan and Tracy Bush of Fairbanks, Alaska on
the birth yesterday of a son, Hunter Joseph. Proud grandparents are
David and Donna Benedict of Turin, and Ed and Cindy Bush of Brantingham.
Happy 94th birthday wishes go out to Agnes Krug of Lyons Falls from her
family. The first St. Patrick's Day Parade was held in New York City in
1762, and today millions of Americans with Irish ancestry celebrate
across the country. Singer Nat "King" Cole was born in Montgomery, AL in
1919. His best remembered song would be "Ramblin Rose", a top five song
in the summer of 1962. He died in Santa Monica, California February 25,
1965. The lead singer and songwriter of the pop group, "The Lovin'
Spoonful", John Sebastian was born in NYC, 62 years ago. As a solo
