Missing Woman Located

on Thursday, 05 September 2013.

A missing woman has been located.  State Police in Herkimer report that they located Ann "Sally" Olsovsky unharmed.  Olsovsky was last seen around 7:30 AM yesterday morning at the intersection of Gravesville Road and Partride Hill Road in the Town of Russia in Herkimer County.  She was located late yesterday afternoon and appears to be in good health but is being evaluated by local EMS.  Her family is with her at the time of the report.

DOT discusses impact of Boonville Fair

Deadline for Trooper Exam Approaching

The New York State Police would like to remind the public there is less than a week remaining to apply to take the upcoming Trooper Examination.  The deadline to apply is September 8th.  Over 26, 000 people have signed up to take the exam.  The State Police encourage the public to take advantage of this testing opportunity, which won't happen again for at least another four years.  In June, Governor Cumo announced that on-line applications were available for the upcoming statewide Trooper examination.  Exams are scheduled for October 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th and will be offered at several convenient locations around the state.

Church to Celebrate 175th Anniversary

Legion no has disposal area for used flags

on Thursday, 05 September 2013.

Those who wish to properly dispose of their worn, ripped or tattered US flags can now drop them off in the Village of Lowville.  The American Legion Post has placed a former post office box at the rear of their building on Dayan Street for easy drive-up & drop-off of their used flags.  The LEgion will then dispose of the flag according to the US Flag Code.

BMC Employee Honored

A long-time employee of the Boonville Municipal Commission was recently hnored by the NYS Municipal Electric Utilities Association.  Tom Lastowski was presented with the DBH Dalrymple Community Service Award.  Mr. Lastowski was nominated by the Village & the Municipal Commission for the award, which goes to a numicipal employee that demonstrates an enthusiastic & material role in community services & activities.  In addition to working for the Municipal Commission for the past 34 years, Mr. Lastowski has been involved in numerous clubs & organizations.

Barneveld named finalist in Water Competition

The Village of Barneveld was one of 10 finalists competing in the championship round of the New York State Drinking Water Taste Test.  The event was sponsored by the state Health Department.  The results were announced at the State Fair in Syracuse, where the final round was held.  Approximately 250 fairgoers selected the winner from 10 water systems that had won regional contests.  The City of Rochester claimed top honors with the best tasting drinking water, with the Village of Fort Plain in Montgomery County named runner-up.
